2010, Noise Throng [Chicago, IL] | Limited to just ten cassettes, this ultra-rare release was a give-away when FIGORA headlined the side-stage at Northern Illinois University's Campus Activities Board "Springfest". Eggroll is a snapshot of the band's activity at the time.

Side 1 is the group's first performance with Bin (then Ben) Wah Kenobi, at Diversions Lounge on 27 March 1996. Plus a couple tracks from the bands' debut at the same venue some months earlier. Side 2 features selections from an ambient / foley recording session on 26 April 1996, plus a couple surprises borrowed from Bin Wah's box of samples. Originally released by the band in 1996, reissued by Noise Throng, 2010 - as the label's 23rd digital release!

Away Team - Maiden Voyage
2010, Noise Throng [Chicago, IL] | Recorded live to cassette during a private party at The Embassy of Rock & Roll (DeKalb, IL) in summer 1996. Maiden Voyage captures the inception of Away Team - the first time the illbient trio attempted to escape Earth's orbit using only sound. This rare archival recording features an appearance on drums by Tom Hapeman of Bog, the bass-drums-bass band for which the guitar-sampler-guitar complement of opening act Away Team was initially assembled.

FIGORA - Bin Wah's Kagura Collage
2010, Noise Throng [Chicago, IL] | Kagura ("god entertainment") was an experimental cassette collage developed by FIGORA's samurai of sound Bin Wah Kenobi in mid-1997. Admitedly unlistenable at times, this recording explores more of the groups darker themes and questions popular American belief systems (remember, some people still thought the world was going to end in 2000, if the Y2K bug didn't destroy civilization first). If you listen carefully, Bin Wah's Kagura Collage reveals some of the overlap between this mysterious band and a few of its Noise Throng cousins. While it was essentially a prototype for the group's F To The X mixtape (below), it was never released outside of a few cassette copies among band members. Digitally restored and remastered by Noise Throng, 2010.

2008, Noise Throng [Chicago, IL] | Classic "leak-on-leak" action here. First, a studio outtake of David Lee Roth singing bits of Van Halen's Runnin' With The Devil. Then pile that on top of the instrumental version of Gnarls Barkley's (then-)new track, Run. Somehow, DLR takes on the air of a gospel singer and makes GB's ho-hum new song a little more exciting.
